In today’s world, depression, anxiety, and inner spiritual turmoil are widespread. Behind every smile is often an untold story of silent suffering, and behind every silence, a cry for help.
Many of us are yearning for meaning, hope, and healing. Something to ground us and bring us the clarity and happiness we desperately crave.
For us, the good news is that you are not alone.
Not only are there people who care all around you, but your Creator has not left you abandoned.
The Divine Response to Inner Pain
The Qur’an is a message from God to you. It’s an eternal, living conversation from the One who created you, who knows you better than you know yourself. Containly heavenly laws, guidance and counsels from the One who brought you into being, from when you were nothing—not even mentioned by anyone. God says:
“Has there not come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing even mentioned?” [Qur’an 76:1]
With His Power and Mercy, God brought you into being.
And He didn’t leave you without guidance or a message. He has spoken to you… to us all. That speech of His to us is known as the Qur’an.
He revealed it not just to guide, but to comfort and to heal. God says: “And We send down of the Qur’ān that which is healing and mercy for the believers.” [Qur’an 17:82]
Your Healing: Remembering God
As a creation of God, you have intentional design. Every part of you has been carefully designed to serve a purpose. Straying from that purpose cause harm and pain.
Your heart is designed to remember God and that’s what brings it peace. God says: “Indeed, in the remembrance of God do hearts find rest.” [Qur’an 13:28]
Those who understood this best were the Prophets - God’s chosen people on earth to be examples for us.
When Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) was going through so much grief and experiencing loss, he didn’t collapse under the weight of it or fall into a deep, debilitating depression and fall into despair. Rather, he turned to the One who understands grief best. He said, when blamed for his feelings:
“I only complain of my suffering and my grief to God” [Qur’an 12:86]
This wasn’t a denial of any feelings, but it was a full acknowledgement of what he was going through, and he channelled all that to his Lord, the One he knew was always listening and could solve everything.
And we can do the same today.
Is God Enough To Help?
When in need, we’ll always turn to someone. It may be ourselves, a friend, a loved one or a teacher. We turn to them and rely upon them for help and support.
But more often than not, people fall short in helping us. And that is human nature, because we are limited beings.
However, the Qur’an tells us a universal, cosmic truth: that turning to God means you are turning to a Being who is always enough. We are told in the Qur’an: “And whoever relies upon Allah—then He is sufficient for him.” [Qur’an 65:3]
Dear reader, you are never powerless. When you place your trust in Him, He becomes your shield and sanctuary.
Telling us more about Himself, God says:
“Is He (not best) who responds to the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes the evil and makes you inheritors of the earth?” [Qur’an 27:62]
Even in your darkest hour, His Light and Mercy is near.
The Light Of Your Heart: The Qur’an
What is the best thing to heal our hearts from grief and sadness? To relieve us from the burdens of pain, of trauma, to give complete mental wellness?
It is the Qur’an.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us a powerful supplication for emotional relief. This supplication tells us everything we need to find true healing. He said:
"O God! I am Your Servant, the son of Your male servant, the son of Your female servant, my forelock is in Your Hand, Your Command over me has already passed, Your Decree regarding me is just. I ask You by every name that You have named Yourself, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have taught to anyone from Your Creation, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You made the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the departure of my grief and the removal of my sorrow." [Musnad Ahmad #3712]
This is real spiritual medicine for us to heal our hearts.
We must ground ourselves in who we are, understand who God is, and then plead to God to heal us.
